Hey guys,

three months ago i bought EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti SC for my old gaming config.

My current gaming setup is:

i5 4670k clocked to 4.0ghz
16gb 2400mhz ram
EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti SC (i plan to put this gpu in my new pc build)
Samsung evo 860 500gb

Also, few weeks ago i ordered new monitor Dell Alienware AW2518HF (25', 240hz, 1080p). I know that this monitor doesn't support the gsync technology, but in my opinion gsync is a waste of money so that's why i ordered a freesync one.

Games i play for the most part are FPS games like fortnite, pubg, rainbow six siege, new call of duty etc.

So my main gaming resolution will be 1080p and for the most part i will use my new pc for gaming and in some rare cases streaming on twitch.

My question would be: which future proof CPU would you recommend me to buy for gaming on a 1080p?

I don't plan to buy i9 9900k since it will be very expensive and i think it will be overkill for gaming, especially for gaming on a 1080p resolution.

Thank you in advance guys for your answers! :D

Well i got a i5-8400 and gtx 1060 3gb and i plan on keep.that for.the next 3 years the 6 core on it will help on streaming but i believe the new ryzen 2000.series still.beat that by a large margin i would imagine a i5 or ryzen 5 would do you just fine i can still game with my 750 ti and i5-4460 x51 r2 just fine.

as your rig is working fine right now dont go with any new cpu. amd next cpu is in final testing faze and in a few months will be going to retaile. on intel side wait for the next gen of cpu after these coffee lake refreshes. right now intel has run out of fab space and there a big shortage of cpu chips right now. may take 4-6 months for prices to drop.

What about 8700k overclocked to 5.0ghz?(If i find it for a good price ofc). I would pair it with a ASRock Z370 Extreme4 since this is a very decent motherboard and can achieve those clocks.

The 8700K would be good, plus with the extra threads it will handle your streaming.
