Hey guys . i wanna buy a new SSD but i'm Confused about what to buy . let me start by asking you few questions 😀 . please look at the list below and answer

1.PCI Express
2.mSata
3.m.2
4.SATA Express

1.Can you sort them performance wise ? which one is the fastest ?

2.What is required to use each one ? Special Board ? Special CPU ? for example you can use SATA 3 ssd with any board beause almost any new board has SATA 3 . PCIE is also usable on any board because it uses regular PCIE slot . how about msata m.2 and Sata express ?

3.Which one is available now ? and which one is coming later ? any release dates ?

4.is there any other kind that is better than these types ?

sorry to ask such noob questions . just wanna buy the best one no matter the cost .

1.Can you sort them performance wise ? which one is the fastest ? 1st M.2 and PCIE , the rest are second

2.What is required to use each one ? Special Board ? Special CPU ? for example you can use SATA 3 ssd with any board beause almost any new board has SATA 3 . PCIE is also usable on any board because it uses regular PCIE slot . how about msata m.2 and Sata express ? M.2 SSD requires you to have your board a M.2 Slot

3.Which one is available now ? and which one is coming later ? any release dates ? All of them are already available in the market

4.is there any other kind that is better than these types ?

PCI-Express, M.2 (PCI-E type) > M.2 (SATA type) & SATA-Express (SATA type) > mSATA

M.2 ports only really started appearing with the Z97 chipset in Intel-land. mSATA needs either an mSATA port, or an mSATA-to-SATA adaptor.

All of them are around, although SATA-Express and M.2 devices aren't exactly common (although I've seen more M.2 than SATA-Express).

You can pay > £5,000 for an enterprise-grade 2TB Intel PCI-E/NVME SSD. 😉 On a more serious note, unless you're doing something very specialist requiring massive I/O throughput (in which case, I'm guessing you'd already know the answer), a decent one of any of the types should be more than fast enough for normal uses (e.g. I have a Samsung 850 Pro, and it's stupidly fast). Also, you missed regular SATA.

Oh thanks for such detailed answers 😀 . Now this pops few more questions

1.which one is little faster and better between PCI-Express and M.2 (PCI-E type) ?
2.I read somewhere that PCIE Type SSDs are faster but have trouble booting up ? can you give me a full list of pros and cons of using m.2/m Sata SSDs over HDDs and PCIE SSDs over m.2/m Sata SSDs ?
3.Isnt SATA Express SkyLake thing ? is it out already ?
4.So In order to get SATA SSD you gotta have Skylake or Z99 board but you can have PCIExpress SSD on every system that has available PCIE Slot right ?

i'm Doing hardcore Gaming and all i care about is High FPS and minimal bottleneck .

thanks again for the time you give to answer my noob questions 😀
