Buying an SLI Compatible Mobo

Hello,
I am trying to buy a new SLI compatible intel motherboard for a fairly good price.

I am planning on doing SLI on the new cards that that should be coming out around January.

Anyone have any good suggestions for a good board?

P.S Keep in mind that I want to get a board from intel for overclocking.

Hello mate

ASUS P5N32-E SLI PLUS, it has the STRIKER EXTREME features but its alot cheaper (its becuase Striker has some extra features which u wont need like LCD Poster and also ASUS calls Striker a gaming motherboard which is mainly for advertising)

P5N32-E SLI is the same as the Striker, the P5N32-E SLI Plus is a 650i board with the southbridge from the 680i. That said it depends on which CPU you plan on using with the board as they both support current processors but I believe only the 680i will support the 45nm chips. There are no boards based on Intel chipsets which support SLI they only support Crossfire.

Intel chips only supports Crossfire. nVidia 680i chips is only the best SLI in the market which is dual socketed, while Intel X38 is QUAD socketed Crossfire thus supports Yorkfield processors while nVidia does not in real world but in theory it is.

That board you linked is an Asus board with a Nvidia 650i northbridge, the Nvidia 680i is currently the best chipset which supports SLI. Asus P5N32-E SLI, Asus Striker Extreme and Evga 680i Revision A1 are your best options. If "by Intel" you mean that it supports Intel CPU's then yes but the board and the chipset aren't Intel.

The above post is correct.INTEL chipsets only supports crossfire.The 680i is based on the NVIDIA chipset,so that support for SLI is still feasable.INTEL is still a little miffed that NVIDIA would not sell its SLI technology to them.But,at the same time,INTEL is smart enough to realize that to limit itself to crossfire only,would result in a loss of revenue in the motherboard department.Something it might be able to afford to do,but honestly,they don't want to lose the profit margin.So hence,INTEL has no choice but to put out a SLI chipset so it can compete with other MB manufacturers.They also don't want to help their primary competitor in the cpu market either.Supporting crossfire only,would give AMD more revenue,something INTEL does not want to do.

Well ASUS M2N32-SLI is an AM2 board not Intel

If your waiting untill Jan to do SLI. Wait untill Dec and get the 780i chipset. Then you will have the ability to upgrade your CPU later on. The 680i chipset is at it's end of life. If you don't want to wait. Then go with a X38 chipset with dual HD3870 GPU's.
