Hello guys,

I am thinking about buying another SSD, specifically the Samsung 850 EVO 500gb. Currently My system operates off of a 840 EVO 256 gb. I don't believe that I can reasonably run a RAID setup with two different capacities, but really I am wondering if it is that difficult to migrate everything from the 840 to the 850 and have the OS run off the 850. After doing so I would want to wipe the 840 clean and have it as a back-up.

Thanks.

Yes.
The Samsung Data Migration will do this.
Or Macrium Reflect

I've used both.
Migrate the entire system from the current 250GB 840 to the new 500GB 850.
After, wipe the 840 and use it as a secondary drive.

Just have it as another drive, and drive letter.
Absolutely no reason to RAID 0 or RAID 1 with those, and many reason not to.

So...you can migrate everything from the current 840 to the new 850, probably with no issue.
How much current used space is on the 840?

So my system says I have 91.2 gb/s of 232 available. Any idea if the Samsung software will migrate the contents for me? I play games, and don't want to corrupt any files by trying it manually.

Samsung has a free ssd migration tool that will do the job.
It will copy your os and apps to the 500gb ssd.
Just replace the 240 gb sd with the 500gb ssd and boot.
You can then repurpose the 240gb ssd for whatever you want.
Actually, I would just remove the 240gb ssd and keep it as a known good backup.
If you ever needed to do a clean install, you could start with your current state.
