I'm going to be purchasing my new computer tomarrow. Well having it built. However I'm stuck on the video card. Im a gamer, but also love picture quality. I know the radeon has better picture quality, but the geforce2 gts64 has the raw power to pump those pixels. I guess i dont really need the power, since the next generation of cards are on their way. And i plan on upgrading later.

heres what i have read....
Radeon64 ddr- less pricey, more features, better picture quality, drivers are iffy.
Geforce2 gts 64- more expensive,Pixel pusher, good but less picture quality, great drivers

I would appreciate any info that may help me.

Btw, my specs (as of tonight) is an amd 1 ghz (c-chip), asus a7v133 256 mgs sdram, and a ibm deskstar 75gxp(or 60gxp). This may be subject to change if i dont have enough to pay for it hehe... im gonna spend between 1200-1600.

thank you, and sorry if my post wasn't that good its late and im tired.

The radeon doesn't fall too far behind the geforce 2 but the ultra is quite a bit better but quite a bit more money as well. With the release of the ge3 you may find the ge2 prices falling.

You could do with a GeForce 256 DDR original model. It has the high memory bandwidth that is the limiting factor in today's high performance video cards and yet is fairly inexpensive ($135 give or take $20). Look at http://www.reactorcritical.com/chips/summary.shtml Good Luck, Take-Out
