Hello all,

I have been looking at a Dell Precision 370 and I would like to get a
Dell Ultrasharp 2001FP Monitor. When that monitor is chosen as a
system option Dell charges $799 but currently Dell is having a sale in
their peripherals section that offers the same monitor for $200 off,
i.e. $599. It would seem to make sense to order the system without a
monitor and buy the monitor as an additional purchase. The only
problem I can think of would be if the monitor and system end up being
shipped at greatly differing times, which would cut into the 21 day
return window that Dell allows. Do you think this would be a
problem? What do you think about buying a system and monitor
separately like this (but both from Dell). Good idea? Bad idea?

P.S. I would ask Dell sales, but this is an offer on their small
business site and the small business voice mail says they only answer
7a - 8pm CST/8am - 9pm EST. It's now 11pm EST and the offer ends in
an hour.

Thanks,

Jim

yes, there could a be a difference in ship dates but it should not be
significant. buy it separately and the monitor will come with a three year
warranty. but it with your system and the monitor will have the same
warranty as you chose for the system (one year, two year, three year, four
year). i find the warranty for the systems to be so expensive that i
typically just get one year which would translate into another reason to buy
the monitor separately.
