I am buying a new PC and I've already selected the components, but I'm not all that familiar with computer hardware. I'd like some help here - did I choose well? I'm going to use the computer mostly for gaming, and other less intense functions (web browsing, schoolwork..). So here are the components:

MOTHERBOARD: ASRock Z77 Pro4 LGA1155
PROCESSOR: Intel Core i5-3330 LGA1155
MEMORY: Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 KHX1600C10D3B1/8G
GRAPHICS CARD: Saphire Dual-X R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 Boost OC Lite
SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB SATA3 SV300S37A/120G
CASE: Miditower COOLER MASTER Force 500
POWER SUPPLY: Silentpower LC6650GP3-650W V2.3

I would like to know if this PC will be able to support the latest games lag-free. Also, my friend told me to get an SSD instead of a regular hard drive, so should I do that?

Thanks in advance.

Solution

That setup should be able to run all but the most demanding pc games on ultra settings. And yes you should get an ssd. It greatly reduces load times, produces very little heat, and drinks much less power.

Although I'm slightly wary of that power supply as I'm not familiar with the manufacturer. Try this one instead;

The site I'm picking the parts from doesn't have that one (I tried some US sites but the delivery to Europe is almost 20% of the price, so I'm limited here). Do you think this one will work as well?
ATX 700 Watt COOLER MASTER B700, 80Plus-Bronze.

I don't trust Cooler Master for supplying power. I know too many people with failed units. Try companies like Antec, Corsair, Enermax, Thermaltake, OCZ, PC Power and Cooling, Lepa, Seasonic, or Silverstone. I've tried most of these brands in the last four years and all are still in working order.

Solution

Allright, thanks. I'll go with this setup and change the power supply.
