- I have a 3.5mm cable going from my PC rear line out (3.5mm) (NZXT N7 Z790) to a PreSonus Eris Sub 8 unbalanced RCA.
- From the Sub 8, I'm using TRS to Alesis elevate 5 mkii studio monitors.

Unfortunately I'm getting a lot of buzzing and hissing through to the studio monitors, even when just on desktop.
  • If I turn off the Sub 8, sound (very quiet) will still passthrough to the studio speakers with no noise however.
  • I presume its picking up noise from my PC hardware - specifically the GPU (MSI RTX 4090), as there's a noticeable increase in noise when I move my mouse or scroll.
  • I think the noisy signal is getting passed through the 3.5mm to RCA unbalanced, and then the sub8 is passing the noisy signal onto the studio speakers, but that's not getting any effect from noise (because balanced), its just that the passed through signal has noise.
Can anyone think of any way I might be able to remedy this?

I don't know but 3.5mm can't be balanced can it?

Thanks

There could be several reasons why there is static noise coming your PC...even a dirty port could create buzzing, hissing or static noises.
Have you try your audio equipment on another PC or device and it sounds ok?
Have you try a different 3.5mm cable?

Have you try updating drivers or changing your PC audio device’s settings? e.g. disabling audio enhancement and such.

Also try connecting the sound equipment on a different outlet or power strip.

Hi, I've tried both the front and rear line in ports with the exact same result.

I've tried plugging the sub directly into the wall outlet and a surge strip (different strip to the PC)

No audio enhancement enabled in software
