C&C Generals Direct X Error Windows 8.1

I Haven't been able to play C&C Generals since each time i try and play it, it says that I don't have direct x installed, I searched on the web and tried every way to fix it, from the options file to reinstalling the graphic drivers and I still get the same warning.

What don't help is that my friend has it installed on his laptop from my disks and he is running windows 8.1. We did try copying all his game file to mine and tried booting it that way and still nothing happened.

Any suggestions?

did you install the old directx 9.0c? http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34429

I installed directx8.1c that it was asking for.

We found out that it was because I was running it through 1080p hdmi and cnc didn't understand it so i set it to run not as 1080p and it works perfectly.

GO AND CHANGE THE RESOLUTION SCREEN OF YOUR GRAPHIC CARD. Looks Crap comparing to 4K or HD large screen


But just changing works magic.

not deleting anything, modifying anything, NOR turning your darn screen to horzontal / landscape / other orientation....


goodness..... took me 3 years following clowns until one fella pointed out here in the forums that chaning his resolution in AMD graphic card software works.

mine is nvdia and using the nvdia control-driver software to change resolution MAKES THE GAME RUNNIN

be it Total annilation or generals or old C&C. GOODNESS ME/

dont understand what i am typing? try googling GPU scaling.

Saves you all those uninstalling modding for no good freaking reason.s
