I noticed on 20 December 2017 that my C drive went full (mostly with temp data ~172GB) and shows the letters NTFS. I searched the internet unsuccesfully. Then I thought to remove the extra data using Windows Defender Security Center. Didn't work.
I searched the internet again the next morning, and after some time i found out that CCleaner might fix it. Every time I tried to clean the C partition CC crashed, working perfectly normal on my other drive (D: ). Then I tried using Glary Utilities. it only found 200MB of temp data and other trash files, but I still don't know how to remove those 172 GB and it's really annoying that my PC works really slow.
I would be really grateful if anyone could help me fix it.

Quick update : I analyzed the C Drive with Glary Utilities and I found out that CBS.log (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS) takes 227.65 GB

It's actually pretty easy: go to Computer/PC, then right-click the C;\ drive, in the context-menu choose the last entry named Properties.

A window should now appear giving you kind of an overview of your free space etc., just click the button that sais "clean", or "clean up", or something like that.

You should see a second window opening. click the lower-left button called "clean up system data", or something similar in meaning.

It then checks for files to delete, just give it a moment. After that you will be able to remove irrelevant data from your disk, including downloaded windows updates, temp-filese, your deleted files and so on and so forth.

Most of the time, temporary files will be responsible for using up all the disk space...
Nevermind. I fixed it myself. I just had to try a little bit harder.
I tried to delete the file but it told me that I can't because of Windows Installer Worker (or something like that), so I wasn't sure if it was safe to stop that process nor delete that file. So I searched the internet again and i found out that it(the file)'s just (as far as I read) the way drives (?) get installed and uninstalled during updates so i stopped the process via Task Manager and deleted the file.

There is another way though, but you might not find yourself to be capable of opening the new system-settings if your C:\ drive is completely shut. but I will give it to you anyway:

Start > Settings (it's the button above shutdown) > System > Storage > C:\ > Temporary Files > Choose "Temporary Files", and what else you want to pick > Delete Files

One thing is to be said about this whole procedure tough: it won't work perfectly every time, there are known issues regarding that topic. The most important thing is to free up at least a bit of space in the beginning to give the system some space to breathe. from there on you can try to clean up some other junk. CCleaner seems to to just fine when it comes down to cleaning up temp-files.

I hope this helps even though it is a little late.

Have a nice day!
