Would anyone please offer a description of the performance loss (if any at all) in a Core2Duo E6300 based system moving from DDR2-667 down to DDR2-533? Thanks.

If you aren't overclocking, the performance loss should be minimal. This is because DDR2-533 runs at the same front side bus (FSB) as the processor does, allowing it to run at a 1:1 ratio. Therefore, the performance should remain about the same.

If you are overclocking however, this will leave little or no headroom before the memory will not be allowed to run at a 1:1 ratio.

If you aren't overclocking, you can use the 533. If you are overclocking, use the 667 instead.

Best of Luck

Yeah, I'd go with the 667. Like everyone else said the price difference is minimal and there is overclocking potential. I currently have 667mhz memory and it took about 2 minutes to get it up to 2.66ghz on my E6400. Still on the stock cooler and have received a little boost in performance, for free basically.
