C3 stepping question

Right now i'm using a C2 stepping AMD Phenom II X2 550, its at 3.72. Now tomorrow if not this week, i'm planning on getting a 955 because i video edit/encode now. If its a c3 stepping (most likely) what kind of overclocking difference would it make. I heard they go to 4.0 easily. But i'd like to get some info.

Phenom II X4 965 C3 editions have a relatively high chance of hitting 4.0 GHz on air, although you need a decent air cooler. So does the Phenom II X4 955 C3, although slightly less of a chance, probably 3.8 or 3.9, but I don't think you'd see too much of a difference between 3.9 and 4.0.

So, currently i have a V8 cpu cooler, Do you think thats enough to cool a 955 at 3.9 or 4.0?

You should have a good chance but I would have thought you could get the 550 past 4GHz

The V8 isn't a bad cooler, although I personally think it might be a bit too small to handle the heat.

XD the 550 is going into a different rig.
