Cable Sleeving

Hey guys. I was thinking about sleeving the cables in my PC. Has anyone done this that can tell me how hard it is to do? Is it even worth doing it in the first place? Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I've never personally needed to do it (my PSU cables were factory sleeved), but some of my friends have. It's quite easy. I think it is worth doing, because unsleeved cables can reduce airflow a lot. It also adds surface for dust to accumulate. Plus, your computer will be much prettier once it's sleeved.

I have done it in the past but nowadays most PSU's come with sleeving. All other cables I have used round for IDE and Sata cables do not need sleeving. It is not very hard to do.

Will the sleeving fit over all the connectors at the end of the cables? That's what was confusing me.

I do it on all my in house builds:

1. All fan molex connectors are stripped and replaced with 3 pin connectors after sleeving the wires. Ganged fan wires go in a single sleeve.

2. All front panel wires are sleeved in common sleeves to the extent practical.

3. All HD SATA cables are sleeved, generally in a single sleeve as HD's are in common location. Same for SSD(s).

4. All 5.25" mounted items are sleeved, again in a common sleeve to extent practical.

5. All USB front panel USB / Firewire / e-SATA cables are sleeved, in common sleeve to extent practical.

6. Sleeved twin 6 or 6+2 pin cables to GFX card(s) in one common sleeve.
