Hi every1

I do a lot of 3D on my computer so i was told to get a good amount of ram to speed things up. so i have

12GB Triple channel Corsair 1600 mhz memory. thing is since i got it i just simply installed. but i didn't see much of an improvement. I was told that there are ways that i can cache my ram in windows 7 and my applications should run much faster.

any thoughts?

Your running 64 bit ?

And adding more RAM is a good thing but if you where running something like 8GB's before you probably would not notice much improvement....

I only ask if your running 64 bit as this would be a huge problem with that much RAM :) you probably already know that though lol

Do you mean you want to put your pagefile in your RAM? I've heard of doing that before. With as much RAM as you've got, you really shouldn't need a pagefile; just disable it and it will have the same effect.

JonathanDeane & JessicaD thank you for the reply and i will definitely check that forum out. and Bolbi do i just disable it and it should work or is there something else

I was wondering, do you get any bonuses for advertising MS sites? 😀

The easiest way is simply to disable the paging file. Then Google for DisablePagingExecutive and LargeSystemCache (registry tweaks) to complete the process. The only reason to actually put your pagefile in RAM is if you have older software that demands a pagefile to work. If you have one of those, you'll know it as soon as you try to run it after disabling the pagefile. If that happens, write back (or just Google) for instructions on how to create a RAMdisk. You then tell Windows to put the pagefile on the RAMdisk.
