By upgrade do you mean replace or just add the drive to your existing platform?

I know faster speeds... but will it really matter for a casual gamer?
Depends on the design of the NVMe in question. For casual gaming, you won't be able to tell the difference. I'd avoid Kingston SSD's as they are hit or miss on their QC department. To add Samsung have had a spell of their 990's failing. I have read a couple on the forums here but I don't see it with my 990 Pro 2TB.

Have a read through this;

I would clone my Kingston NV2 to the new one. I would use my Kingston NV2 in another PC or as storage.
TL;DR:
Unless you're doing heavy multitasking or data work, DRAM-less SSDs are fine—especially for gaming. Spend extra only if your use case demands it.

Looks like it truly doesn't matter... Seems like I can go cheaper than $160 and aim for $100-120 and I wouldn't notice the difference.
