Call Of Duty Ghosts Freeze and Black screen?

Hi. In Cod Ghosts for pc, after I die, the screen goes black, and freezes. It used to be just after I moved it would do that, but now its when I die. I run on Windows 8. With a a10 processor.

retail disc, I got it from Gamestop, which is called EB Games were I live.

Wow...EB Games is still going? I thought they definitively killed it in favor of the Gamestop chain.

In any case, even if it's a retail disc, it should be running on Steam. Run through a repair of the game's local cache and try again. On your Steam library, right click on the game, select "Properties" and then select the "Local Files" tab; there should be a "Check local file integrity cache" button (or something like that), press it.

Also, post your full system specifications for further troubleshooting, should the repair not fix anything.

Ohh all right, try reintalling the game, and download the latest patches from activison page, also make sure to have your drivers up to date. What are your specs?

Hmm...Reinstall it entirely, but don't use the disc. Let Steam handle the entire download. Some files might look like valid while they're not, and there's less of a chance of getting them bad from Steam's servers anyway.

Make sure your drivers are up to date, as well as your Direct X libraries and Visual C++ redistributable /.NET Framework packages. Also, if the game is not launching at all, you might be lucky; these things usually leave a log entry in window's event viewer, which could not help at all or which could directly solve your issue, so you should definitely check that too (Control Panel -> Admin tools -> Event viewer -> [tree menu on the left] Administrative events -> Application)
