Actually a CIG developer commented on that, he explicitly said that the issues being server related are the biggest myths going around right now. Simply he said the game code isn't optimized. So take that for what you will.

So idk, hopefully it get's optimized here soon so that lower end systems can run it.

Yeah Star Citizen's memory requirements are still as harsh as ever... I have a mate that can run the game on 8GB fairly most the time, he just suffers pretty bad FPS drops when first loading into Port Olisar and most larger planets when you first come into orbit. Any less than 8GB will probably not be a fun experience but i suppose you could try... If you have 12+ GB you should be just fine.

Quick tip, you need a HUGE pagefile to get it working right. I recommend 16-20GB pagefile.

I have 16GBs of RAM and I NEED a 18GB pagefile for Star Citizen to work without stuttering all the time.

However, i'll get back to you on 3.1's performance and memory usage.

WOW!!! Oh my word is 3.1 good! The frame rates are ridiculously high, 53FPS and i'm not getting anything below 25fps in the worst case scenario.

People in that same game server said they were getting 80FPS!!! This is crazy!!!

FYI, i was running about 10-15 firefox tabs so memory usage is exaggerated a bit.

My friend was over last week and wanted to try it out, patcher reset all the controls to defaults. We couldn't figure out how to take off and gave up after 15 minutes or so. Might be a mismatch between the defaults in the menu and the default control scheme. I'll have to sit down and figure it out again, long weekend for the US, so might actually get around to it.

I recall 45FPS worst case at 2560x1440 with 16GB of memory. My swap is on the SSD though. It will be interesting to see if it is faster.

390X won't be an issue at all... I can attest for that 😉 I actually get more FPS than every person i usually play the game with somehow... Your build looks perfectly fine for Star Citizen!

Ah, thanks. Yeah, this card is new and I'm still experimenting with it; seeing what settings it wants to use. So far it's 1080p on medium settings for 3.0. But if things have stabilized, I'm hoping ultra is an option. Whatever it is, it's better than my old 7770 HD 2GB: I was playing in 720p on low. It's still a beautiful game at those settings, by the way.

Yeah for sure! Also, AFAIK Graphics settings still don't really do anything at the moment. Well at least i don't notice a difference in performance nor visual quality between Low and Ultra. Unless this has changed with 3.1...

The difference for me (in 3.0) was a lot of frame drop while walking (oddly, running was way smoother), the whine in my PSU also stopped while those frames locked for a split-second; once I got it on medium I could walk without the fps drop.

Eximo, i recommend switching to the advanced keyboard profile immediately, I use it all the time because it gives you hotkeys to turn the ships on and off.

Unfortunately, the high amount of FPS isn't exactly consistent, the PTU just went thru TWO patches in under six hours, and the latest two have not had nearly as good FPS as the one yesterday morning. So hopefully they get that sorted out. (Then again, people are spawning reclaimers out of the wazoo so that's probably the issue.)

I also have some other bad news, my pagefile and vram consumption for all the 3.1 patches has gone up drastically. Instead of 18-20GB being used for Star Citizen on my pagefile, i'm using up to 30GB now. And my vram usage went from 6.5GB to 8GB (maxing out my vram).

Another quick update, a LIVE release of Alpha 3.1 is literally extremely soon. Possibly late tomorrow or Sunday is almost guaranteed from what I'm seeing with the PTU right now.

As of the latest PTU patch 3.1.0r we've been all switched to "LIVE" status, basically meaning that we only have access to the ships we bought and can no longer access every single ship in the game.

Unfortunately, this seems to be one of the worst performing patches so far, many are reporting way below 30fps, and I'm literally locked at 17fps (will not go higher or lower than 17FPS for me). My best guess is that it's only a quick mess up, one of the devs probably added in old code or something. Others on the PTU have also agreed that it's just a "oops" moment. We should get a really good patch very soon.

Another update, alpha 3.1.1 is coming out tomorrow to fix issues concerning aUEC losses in the PU and other stuff that's been glitchy since the launch of 3.1.

Yesterday CIG also launched a patch that reset all accounts aUEC and got Arena Commander and Star Marine working again.

Over the past few days, my average frame rate has been in the 40s.

Hey kids.
So ima say latest patch is pretty stable for me. gave up some performance for it though.
Was 40 plus @ 3440 x 1440. now low 30's, unless I get a shiny fresh server, then back up to high 30's/40.

Doesn't seem to spool up the gpu all the time, guessing server tickrate or something I don't understand is at play there.

Still.. love that multithreading, makes me happy :)
