I have a camper down at a campsite. They offer good internet and when you are near the router you get 20Mbps download. But when I am at the camper which is about 500ft away from the router I get really good strength on my iPhone which is 2-3 bars but the speed sucks only about 2Mbps. I was curious what the best solution would be to boost the speed? The camper will be staying there so it'll stay on the same Wifi all the time.

Thank you,
Zak

you would want to setup and accesspoint/router to extend the signal by connecting that router to the wifi then re-broadcast the wifi ssid or create your own ssid, you really need to put that halfway in between since the signal may not be the greatest

or you can purchase an outdoor/indoor acccesspoint that has a directional external antenna that will send the signal in a narrow beam to your wifi extender which would help bump the signal up quite a bit

i would let the camp manager know of there dead spot/weak info so far from there main wifi hotspot. the campsite should then pick up an outdoor ap and place it in the middle of the camp to help cover the back end of the camp site.
all they need to do is have it connected to an outdoor covered outlet so that water wont short out the small ac brick that used to power them.

What routers would you recommend for this?

Just to make sure. If I were to attach this to a telephone pole or any pole and point it to my camper I will be able to extend the original WiFi to my camper and it will be waterproof correct?

you would most likely want to create another ssid and hook it to the router etc that is being used, it should send the signal father than a regular omni directional antenna that most AP's use.

you could grab another router say a cheap $40 tp link router and flash it with ddwrt and use it as an bridge/extender which will hook to that new ssid and send the signal around your area as well as pick it up a bit better than say a phone etc.

this would be installed in your camper
