Question Can’t open most things in Windows anymore, even sound not working ?

Im really sorry for pestering the forum . but through the idiots of portuguese microsoft assistance, i may have really messed up my pc.

the windows assistant gave some "assistance" to mainline users (im not a tech) to mess with the HKEY REGISTRIES

i fear i may have EXCLUDED the user from permissions through the HKEY REGISTRY by mistake .

NO PERMISSION AND NO APP ASSOCIATED . when i click some icons.

Im ok with a windows and system reinstall now Program reinstallation and all that. DONE BY A TECH STORE, NOT MYSELF.



my concern now is if iits possiblt to SALVAGE THE MEMORY FROM THE HARD DISK.

Motherboard returned with a frontal USB not working from the former tech that repaired it (previously all were not working).

If the above problems are related to the motherboard guess im fine with buying a new one. although quite expensive.

All of these are software problems, not hardware problems. And they're almost certainly from all your screwing around with Windows when you should not have been.

They all should be resolved when the OS drive is wiped and Windows fully installed on a completely wiped drive. And then stop messing with Windows.

And as it appears you're having this tech install Windows for you, make it clear you want the drive completely wiped and a proper, legal Windows installed (lots of techs will install dodgy copies). No half measures of trying to keep your current Windows install and salvage your settings and the current mess you made.

When the pc returned from motherboard repair, the windows the former tech Installed ( which was Win 10 Home Version) already had the four problems i mentioned on my last post .

these are related to a bad Windows installation the tech did ? not to the Motherboard or HDD?

That sounds like a clueless tech and bad OS install, from possibly sketchy media.

But the only way to really know is from a NEW OS wipe and reinstall, with known good media, with a person that knows what he is doing.

Is data listed on the following WINDOWS SETTINGS mantained by the HD COPY method MENTIONED BEFORE on this post ? or maybe the copy does not work regarding them ?

Settings>Search>Searching Windows>Excluded folders'

Im talking about the excluded folders from the Windows Search Settings. Will These be Copied as well on new HDD?

Im not sure you understood.

im asking if the "Excluded Folders" Data list present in the Windows Search Configuration goes through the copying NORMALLY OR IF THEY ARE EXCLUDED FROM THE COPY THE TECH WILL DO and are not copied from the new HDD.

I did not send to the tech yet. will only be able to do so in 2 days.

The problem is there isn't a standard procedure. If you need something saved, you're going to have to TELL the tech exactly what folders you need saved.

The information on excluded folders on Search should not be copied over. The whole operation would fail the basic purpose if anything to do with your former Windows install was included.

what im asking is if the folder is copied or not despite being excluded on search or if its copied anyway. im not talking about the windows information or configurations, but about the data on the folder that was excluded on the windoes search settings.

from what you guys seem to have said, when copying to another HDD, generally the folders that were excluded on search are also copied. unless the tech copy the windows configurations as well, which generally does not happen.

What gets copied is whatever you or your tech selects to copy.

You don't just blindly "search" and then take whatever it gives you.

i mean folders excluded on searches. if they are in C they are copied despite that?

example; if a folder is excluded from searches but everything in C is copied , the folder that was excluded from search is copied despyte that ? the exclusion is irrelevant ?

Example to clarify :

if ithere is a folder named "Codes and Passes" in C:/ and it is excluded from Searches . If i copy all the content of C: to other HDD , is this folder and its content copied or not ?

From what i understand from your answers, it is copied despite the search exclusion.

is that right ?

In the context of preparing for this reinstall, and saving your personal data:
  1. You're not copying the whole C drive.
  2. You personally are not doing this, your tech person is.
  3. He isn't using "Search" to find and copy things.

It was just an example. But my question is actually not very complicated.

i just want to know if the folder data on the example of my last post is copied with sucess to another HDD or not
