Okay so im looking to build a new gaming rig but im a teen that has to use my parents money to build this. My dad has given me the option to build a 1000-1200$ pc but i don't want to waste their money. However, for christmas my cousin gave me his old 1660 ti and I have the link to the exact model below. When building this pc, I don't spend a hunk of my parents money just to use outdated platforms just for the reason of future use. The most future proof platform currently if im not mistaken is AM5. For this reason, I would like to go for a ryzen 5 7600 or 7600x with DDR5. However, I don't know if this 1660 ti would be usable with the ryzen 5 7600, and by usable, i mean any glitching in games and too much work on the already used GPU. Of course, I could go with an older platform like LGA1700 or AM4 but that isn't really optimal to me. This is my current build and I chose the 7600x because it is currently cheaper than the 7600 for some reason. Please let me know if this could work or if an intel LGA1700 build could work and be used far into the future, 5-10 years. Keep in mind I will be using this mostly for gaming but some for school. Since I am a teen, I would be using this every other day if not everyday for a couple of hours. Please let me know if this would work or a recommendation of another build utilizing the 1660 ti I already have.

PS: I could always use the extra budget and get a 300-400$ GPU but that would probably be a 4060 ti, 6700xt, or a 7600xt (idk anything ab this card). lmk which of these 3 cards would be the best and although i could go to 1200$ I will be choosing not to spend the extra money.

Locations: I am open to online shopping on amazon and newegg. I also have a microcenter location near me in Tustin.

There's no reason the GTX 1660 Ti won't work perfectly fine unless the card itself is bad. AM5 is the best choice for platform longevity if you're thinking of upgrading to a faster CPU down the road several years. I've not seen any professional reviews on the 2024 version of the GF1 so it may or may not be worth buying, but if you're looking at longevity I think you'd be much better served by buying a solid ATX 3.0 PSU.

I wouldn't fret the 1660ti too much so long as you temper the expectations you have for resolution and framerate. It is a card capable enough to game on with that in mind. The system spec above is capable of more so perhaps you consider using some cash later to update the card?

yeah im planning on upgrading the gpu later to perhaps a 6800xt but that will be once i get a job and buy it with my own money. so the 7600x would work even with the 1660ti and wouldn't have like glitching/bottleneck?

yeah that was what i was thinking that too, would the Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 - TT Premium Edition 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply, be a good choice? it is atx 3.0 and pcie 5.0.

im gonna trust you on this since you are much more experienced, but could you tell me the differences on why that unit is better? i just want to know for the future.
If you look at the link I posted before it'll show everything as both of those PSUs are listed and breaks down performance. It's mostly a matter of knowing capacity you need and then finding the best PSU you can afford to buy.

As for why there's a notable difference between them the OEMs for each unit are different.

idk if u will see this but i have just stumbled upon microcenter bundles and i happen to live near the tustin location so i was wondering if this bundle with the ryzen 7 7800x3d would work with the 1660 ti without any major bottlenecks. i do realize it is a much more powerful cpu for gaming so that is why i wanted to ask. there is also a bundle with the 7700x for $100 cheaper. the price with the 7800x3d is even cheaper than my original build.

yes it should work with it. the card will be a obvious bottleneck though, but since you mentioned you're gonna upgrade later on, this will work for now. go with a good quality PSU, even if its a lil overkill for your current build, since you'll be upgrading stuff in the future.

Anything on AM5 is going to be way more CPU than you need for the GTX 1660 Ti. As long as the video card is good I think buying the best performance/$$ platform you can now so later down the road you can just upgrade the video card and know everything will keep up.

so will the thermaltake 750 watt work or should i upgrade to a quality 850 watt? if so please link a good one.

so what you are saying is that i should buy the 7800x3d for the long run as its more price to performance and i am going to be upgrading the gpu anyways. im sure the bottleneck wont be TOO bad.
