Would I need like SLI or Crossfire for this or no? just want to see if it would increase in performance or could I use a certain GPU for something else

Going for an SLI/Crossfire isn't worth the hassle these days. You would be better off buying a SINGLE powerful GPU instead. Not many games scale well on such setups.

Btw, you can run run 2 different GPUs together in concert so long as you don't use an SLi/CrossFire bridge. One possible scenario is that you could use one for doing PhysX, and the other doing something else like 3DSMax.

Also, having two completely different GPUs in one PC is possible, as long as there are enough PCI slots on the motherboard. However, if you are planning to use SLI, it requires two similar GPU models. Furthermore, you should remember not all applications take advantage of the dual GPU setup.

You can use different cards, even mix Nvidia and AMD, but they will just work independently when crossfire/SLI is disabled.
