And would it be worth it, as most games might not be capable of the sli configuration yet..

Yes the 980 ti has 4-way SLI capabilities. Generally, do not go past 2-way if you are trying to stay with price/performance and cooling. Generally, you will get 80% out of the 2nd GPU, 40% out of the 3rd, and a measily 10% out of a 4th.
