Can a 2560x1440p monitor run 2560x1080p natively?

Sometimes I like to do schoolwork on my gaming rig and 1080p is a little difficult to read off of sometimes. I'm just curious if I can switch to 1080p if my monitor is 2560x1440p natively?

Seems like a dumb question, sorry. Can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere.

You will have black bars but why not as long as the resolution is not higher than what your monitor is capable
If you have an NVidia card you can create a custom resolution through NVidia Control Panel

Ah, yeah? So going 2560x1440 is the way to go if I want to go back and forth. Sweet. Thank you 😀
