Here's my problem. We have received a load of DELL Optiplex 780 computers. I want to force the users to make them available for inventory by adding a "virus" that locks the computer if a date passes and the the computer hasn't been inventoried. I get "Why isn't the computer here?" "Oh, we took it to the minister's house because he has more electricity." and the computer is never seen again.

I want so that when a computer is checked in inventory that the person doing the inventory can run a script that will reset the time sensitive script to a new activation date for the script that would modify the BIOS password. Modifying the grub2 would work except the computers are dual boot with win7 and I'd need one for win7 to modify grub2 as well.
Any ideas?

looks promising. I'll let you know how it goes. I'll wait a bit before marking solved just in case some other ideas crop up. Thanks. Interesting that the windows download is 20mb and linux 1.
