Solution

What are you talking about. No office PC needs a Corsair 500 watt power supply... Yes your PSU will handle the rig with ease. I have the FX 8350 VM box of mine running on a VS 500 W PSU its the same as this unit, just different name. Your good to go you have 40 amps on the 12v rail and these corsair PSU's have a 3 year warranty so incase something does happen, Corsair will replace it. I have dealt with them for many years they are a rock solid...

Is it just for gaming? Going from a 6-core to an 8-core of the same series isn't that much of an upgrade. The 8-core FX series will still bottleneck a current-gen, mid-range GPU. That money could be better spent/saved toward a newer CPU/Mobo/RAM combo, or a better GPU.

fact. it happens often with them.

they're not designed for gaming computers, they for light office computers. but they're cheap so people put them in gaming computers,

So is it not safe for me to get the processor? I'm thinking of getting a new processor and a new gpu, maybe a 970, would my power supply be good enough to power both or just the processor ? Or would I need to get a new one for it to be safe
