Can a damaged GPU make the CPU run harder?

To make up for the work the GPU is not doing? As many know Ive been on here crying about my new computer and how it sucks. When I ordered it the GPU was bouncing around inside the computer because it was not placed properly in the slot. Well I started up my game, (and yes everything in the computer passes beyond the min requirements, this is a crucial part.. MY SYSTEM PASSES W ALL SYSTEM REQUIRMENTS FOR THE GAME) bu when I play the cpu runs at 100% usage..... What could be making it do this? A damaged GPU?.. keep in mind its a brand new computer so, no virus's or background programs running.

Solution

Motherboard- Biostar A55ML2

GPU- GeForce GT 520

CPU- AMD Athlon(tm) X2 340 Dual Core Processor(3.2Ghz ~ 3.6 turbo)...

the cpu goes to 100% and makes me chop all over the game.. lag basically... more heavy than GPU lag when occured on my old pc.

well for the old PC idk the specs in much detail but I do know a couple things.. had 4 gig of ram.. a AMD Radeon HD 4300/4500 series gpu (worse than my current), a Intel Core 2 Quad (Q8200) running windows xp (comes with vista but I hate vista n downgraded it) .. computer is around 800 dollars online.. idk the MOBO details
