[SOLVED] Can a display port included with monitor still kill a gpu ?

He's an idiot. The DP cable didn't 'fry' his gpus because wire or not being present in the cable doesn't make up for the fact that pin #20 goes 'from' the gpu 'to' the monitor, and the monitor doesn't 'supply' voltage out, the gpu does, IF it does. And most monitors don't have a use for the DP_Pwr, so the pin terminates at the monitor, goes nowhere. It's essentially a dead pin.

He was just looking for someone else to blame. That's like saying a molex plug will blow up 5v equipment , just because there's a 12v wire in the molex, even though with 5v equipment the 12v wire is not used.

Power doesn't kill electronics slowly, if that 3.3v 500mA was Any sort of issue, the results would have been instant.
