[SOLVED] Can a new-in-box cooler still be good after 8 years?

As the title states, I found a Corsair H80 in the back of my closet still sealed in the box that I received as a result of an RMA back in 2012 and completely forgot about. It has never been used and looks ok. Should I trust it or go for a new one? I'm getting ready to start a new build.

While there is a chance of evaporation, it's worth a shot. I'd replace the thermal compound and try it. Worse case, it doesn't work. Best case, free cooler upgrade.

Try it without overclocking. Temps look great? Maybe overclock? I think it should still be fine. But like Gmoney said. Replace the thermal compound.
