I have a: HP Pavilion dv6-6135dx.
SPEC DATA:
HP Pavilion dv6-6135dx
Type: General Purpose, Value
Processor Name: AMD A8-3500M
Processor Speed: 1.5 GHz
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
RAM: 6 GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6620g
Storage Capacity (as Tested): 640 GB
Screen Size: 15.6 inches
Resolution: 1366 x 768
Weight: 5.7 lb
Screen Type: Widescreen
2nd Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6750M
Rotation Speed: 5400 rpm

Everything was working fine. With the normal HDD that comes with the laptop.

Untill I decided to do this. Install a SSD. :c

So, I recently buyed a SSD:
SanDisk Ultra II 480GB
Model: SDSSDHII480G

And when I installed it,
My laptop didnt wanted to boot.
all I got is a black screen with a: " __ " flashing.
Then after 5 minutes, it shows the HP logo screen.
Then after 10 minutes, it appears the "windows is starting" screen.. But everything in slow motion.

SSD: I installed W7 and W10 on it, and It presents the same boot problem.

HDD: This hard drive was working fine, with Windows 7 installed. Now after the installation of the SSD is presenting the same problems at the boot screen, only difference is that is 10 times slower.

  • I have checked the RAM, working fine.
Mother board battery, replaced with a new one.
BIOS drivers updated. (downloaded from HP page).
    Graphics drivers updated.
And nothing work.

So, Can a SSD damage/corrupt my Motherboard BIOS?

and also, is this really a thing:
"bios corruption by Windows 10"?

btw, Both HDD & SSD are working fine on other laptops.

Thanks,
Regards,

And I shouldnt say this but: (Sorry for my bad english. Not my first language.)

Solution
For clean re-installation, you should check the BIOS to set the storage mode in either AHCI or RAID for the SSD. Also install the GPU driver for the HD6620g/ HD6750m.

Any SSD or OS will not damage/corrupt the MB BIOS, as long as you don't update the BIOS. And check out the support from HP for win10 upgrading. Info http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04730900

It was a clean install.
I first installed the ssd with a CD/DVD disc with Windows7.

I did not touch anything on the bios.
Until I was trying to find a solution to the problem.

Do you know something about my last question?
"bios corruption by Windows 10"?

Thanks for answering.
Best regards.

go to bios - make the SSD as the primary boot device. install OS on it fresh, then install the drivers, apps etc etc..

if you just plugged it in and are booting, the booting is from the HDD or the old drive.. so it will be slow/regular.. the SSD will show up as a separate secondary drive..
