Solution Dark Lord of Tech May 27, 2014 A Radeon R9 280 needs 30 amps on the 12v rail and a 550 watt power supply The 12v rail is the key and the XFX 550W has more than enough power with 44 amps on the 12v rail. There is also some room for mild overclocking.

P Pondering Honorable Dec 7, 2013 1,023 0 11,660 May 27, 2014 #4 Just make sure that you have a backup PSU for when you have to send the seasonic back for replacement due to wear and tear. I have the XFX 550 and it is excellent but overclocking gets crazy sometimes. Upvote 0 Downvote
