I found a good 19" monitor for a good price, which made me rethink the graphics card I want to buy.
The LE really seems to be quite a catch for 70-80 bucks. And the ATI has "superb" DVD playback which I suppose I'm getting too. But with a monitor that supports 1600*1200, it wouldn't look that good playing @ 1024 like my other friends with their 15". Now all I want is good gameplay at resolutions close to 1280x1024. I also don't want to get lost frames while playing FPS's. So, in the light of my new monitor, should it be a Kyro2, a radeon LE, or a GTS?
Does the Kyro2 have comparable DVD quality? What about the image quality? I want that too. I guess in terms of framerates that don't drop (much), the gts seems to have the highest framerates.
Thanks.

kyro II is extremly cpu dependant, what do you have? It's image quality is quite good, not sure on the dvd. The geforce 2 is typically better at higher rez but you'd need a pro or ultra which will still set you back quite a bit more than the LE. If you have a fast cpu then the kyro II should be really good because you could run at 1024x768 but turn of FSAA and not get a huge drop in fps.

I'm thinking of putting a 1.33GHz on it.
Would 1024*768 w/ FSAA look better than say 1280*1024?
I remember when I saw the benchmarks of the KYRO II, they had pictures to show image quality. I suppose they just don't know how to take snapshots well because it was not "quality" at all.
I wish people with a Radeon or a kyro 2 can send me snapshots with everything maxed.

First of all, you can run ANY video card on a 19" monitor. Size doesn't matter, but resolution does. Now I've played games at 1600x1200 resolution on my LE, it works fine.

As far as DVD goes, they are not encoded at 1600x1200, more like 1024x768 or less. So your video window is scaled to fit the screen at other resolutions. Setting your monitor at even 1920x1440 will not significantly improve image quality beyond that of 1024x768 with DVD using ANY video card, simply because it can only scale the basic 1024x768 image to fit. I would go with teh LE, mine works great. 80% the performance of my GTS with better image quality. I don't care that it only plays 80FPS instead of 100FPs in a certain game if my mind can only comprehend no more that 30FPS.

The radeon LE is a steal at its current price. It delivers the same performance as the retail with a couple of tweaks. Checkout www.rage3d.com for the details. The radeon LE will deliver everything you need for a modern gaming system. I don't care if your getting a 24" monitor, it won't make any difference.

Well size does matter (kind of). You can't convince me to put a geforce 1 on a 19" and play 800*600. A pixel would look as big as a horse on that monitor.
I'm guessing the LE would be good. I also want to brag in front of my friend who has a regular mx. Mine would be better right?
