Hello everyone..my current specifications are-
1. AMD FX 8350 CPU.
2. 8GB DDR3 Kingston HyperX RAM.
3. Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P Mobo
4. 250GB SSD + 2x500GB WD HDD.
5. Antec X1-E Cabinet wth 2 Fans
6. Antec C40 CPU Cooler
7. Antec Neo Eco 620C 620W PSU.

i wanna ask that can my current PSU be able to run Sapphire R9 280X 3GB GFX along with the above mentioned hardware?? i'm a bit confused as the Sapphire website says that 750W PSU is required to run this card..so kindly reply me asap..
thanx in advance..:)

That really makes no difference. The only thing that's going to affect PSU output due to graphics is pushing it hard using high resolutions, multiple monitors, Ultra settings, at the same time. Or significant overclocking. If you only use the 280 model you are perfectly fine with that PSU. If you get the other card, get another PSU. Period.
You could probably get by with that PSU as most places list that as a 250w TDP card, and it has fair reviews being of similar build structure to the Seasonic M12II and S12II, but Sapphire does recommend a 750w PSU and that's what I'd use. Make sure if you get a PSU that it is at least a Tier 3 or higher, preferably Tier 2B or higher, PSU on the following Tier list:

Probably, but considering your current PSU is of an older design, has been around the block already and does not meet Sapphires recommended wattage, you would be taking a risk which is probably not worth it with your high dollar graphics card. You could use it for now, and I mean FOR NOW, but I would get a better unit very soon and I would not push your card too much until you do so. This PSU would work fine:

And what abt the normal 280 3GB GFX (not X) ?? Will that be able to cope up with the system?? Because im currently using Gigabyte Geforce 650TI 2GB OC Edition and im thinking to upgrade as sometime i feel that the GPU is doing bottleneck in performance..so thats why im lookin forward to upgrade..and regarding 280x..only Sapphire has written 750W requirement, on other websites, its around 550W for 280X..so this is just making me even more confused..!! and the PSU is 80+ Browse Certified.

Yes, but since Sapphire MAKES the card, I'd trust them more than any OTHER websites. They should know what is necessary for their own product better than any other source. Your PSU would be fine for the 280 model, as long as there are no issues with it.

i have had hopes with this PSU because its an 80+ Certified one..but Sapphire seems to going on a totally different track(750W..-_-)..but as you're telling..even the 620W 80+ Browse Certification will not be enough right?

As Antec Neo Eco 620X is 80+ Browse Certified..maybe it'll run the system if i only run single application at a time especially when gaming? Is it possible?

hi, what if i go for GTX 770 4GB? and i would keep everything on stock on either cards including the CPU also..!!

Hey man, you can throw a GTX Titan Z in there if you want and only use it for web browsing too. But if it ever spikes the current draw for whatever reason beyond what your PSU can handle, you're likely to take out both the GPU and the PSU, and probably some other shit too. IT'S NOT WORTH THE RISK. You can either pay an extra 60 bucks now to get a proper PSU, or get the lower tier card OR you can rebuild your entire system later when the PSU shorts out and takes everything else out with it. It's up to you. We've already told you how to do things correctly, the rest is up to you.

And since running a PSU at the limit, with no overhead or leg room, is contrary to standard recommended procedure, it's probably a bad idea for long term use. Short term, sure, but not indefinitely. Running a PSU at over 80% for any length of time, which he wouldn't necessarily be doing, but might inadvertently be doing if he has any hours long gaming sessions, would be a good way to shorten even further the life of a unit that's already been around the block for, well, we don't know just HOW far around the block it's actually been. Anyway, sounds like his mind is made up anyhow. Just hope for his sake he doesn't brick his rig that way.

i think ill go for a 750w with r9 280x..otherwise r9 280 will be my choice..if my budget doesnt allow me for a PSU upgrade and yes, one thing i wanna ask is..my friend recommended me an MSI R9 280X 3GB..whos recommended PSU requirement is 500W..this is now again confusing for me..:\..check the link below..!!

Actually, as per the techreview study, 562w at load. That's on a test bench with NO other components connected. Factor in the processor, RAM, drives, fans, motherboard and peripherals and you're probably up to at least 700w. Since you should not exceed the 80% that would leave a need for an 800-850w PSU with the 280x. Of course, that's being OVERLY cautious, but better than blatantly unconcerned.

Holyyyyy...562W..is this a card or a whole workstation? 😵..!!!

That card won't be pulling that much on a regular basis, if ever. That's just what the testing determined at 100% draw. Most games and other use won't go much past 250w, if that, at least on just the card itself.

alright man..thanx for ur quick replies..i think i have to make my mind for a PSU also..ill straightway go for Seasonic MKII2 850W..i wish i have enough budget for that at the time of upgrade..-_-
