As the title states. I also feel as if this could be my processor or ram but im not sure. In cs:go and Insurgency I get frame stutter but in WoW I just get bad performance and no frame stutter. Any help would be wonderful.

Hi Guys;

I've had the same problem for ages. upgraded shedloads of hardware and went through 3 versions of windows.

after so much fiddling;

it turned out to be the onboard sound hardware. AC97/realtek HD audio. I disabled it in setup and I havent had a single stutter since. I have some old wireless headphones with a usb soundcard and they work fine, with no stuttering.

hope this works for you. I tried all the other solutions out there and none worked. overclocking, voltage ramping, new hdds etc etc.

I got some help on the 900 series forums over at geforce and someone told me to looks at my frame times and see if its spiking. Which it is and he said this is causing my stutter. Do you know a fix for this?

I also have the Asus Strix GTX 970. The only problems I've noticed with the card have been driver related. Which driver are you using?

I am using 344.75, and it seems to work on my card. There are also two newer drivers that I haven't tried yet (347.09 & 347.25).

I did have some problems with updating the driver. I ended up having to flash the BIOS (it already had the latest BIOS). I would also recommend DDU.

If you haven't already done so, try reloading the other Nvidia software (other than the driver).

The problem may also be in the specific game that you are playing. Try reloading the game. It may also be a compatibility problem with the driver you loaded. Try one of the newer drivers that are available. Try some different new games on the system.

My only other suggestion is remove any unnecessary programs (especially those that load automatically on start-up). Your system may also have malware or bloatware that slows the system down in general.

On the extreme, you can reinstall the system on a clean reformatted drive. Try loading only essential software, and then test your game performance under those.conditions.

I have done all of this. I found my problem I just have no clue how to fix it. Niether does anyone else. Im going to call Nvidia tommorow and see what they know.

Hey Zaathion, i got mostly same problem with yours computer freezing, etc.
And i've solved it 2 days ago.

Its my RAM, changed my RAM into a new brand. Fifa 15 all play smoothly, benchmark score 4,3k - 4,4k (GTX 970)

how's ur benchmark score?

Dude. i have the same issue.. well had. since im a bit technically inclined i was able to remove the 970 cooler and apply very small amount of arctic gold i had around. i didnt even spread it. then re installed the cooler properly .. i also did that for my CPU. re added the arctic gold and BOOM! perfect. ususaly gpu will clock down if the heat is to much or the rate at which it rises is to high. it has to be an installation or heat issue u have . IF i were u i would either table that system or disassemble and reassemble completely. that gpu is on a pc i built for my GF. works like a charm now

Uninstall the latest driver and roll back to say November last year's one, that's what I did, stuttering is gone in most o my games apart from a couple. I have the MSI GTX 970 OC V1 (afterburner edition)
