Guys iam planning to buy a 4 gb ddr3 ram now,,, and decide to upgrade it to 8gb in near future.....

my spec are
i5 4670k

msi z87 g43

seasonic m12ii 750 watt

saphire r9 270x....

please suggest me a good 4gb ddr3 ram,,, so i can upgrade it to 8gb later.....

do i need to buy the same 4gb ddr3 ram to upgrade it to 8gb in future????

You can mix match ram, so depending on the Mhz speed you are looking for, buy from a highly rated stick from that speed.

The MSI z87 g43 has four RAM slots. so you are good with a pair of 2GB modules now, then add another pair of 2GB modules down the road to get to 8GB. Look for "standard" modules with specs of DDR3-1600 CL9 1.5v that do NOT have tall heat spreaders (they aren't necessary). Lower latency CL7 or CL8 would be nice, but not necessary.

You will be best off to buy the same type of ram latter as you will not have to worry about matching cas timing and speed, thus you will have garanteed compatibility.

It is ideal to buy a matched set to begin with as they are even cut from the same sheet of silicon.
