Question Can GPU break motherboard chipset?

I found my old GPU - GTX 660 and tried to use it as my second GPU (main is RTX 3070) for second monitor. I powered off PC and switched off PSU, plugged GPU, switched PSU back, turned on PC, and nothing happened: no image on both monitors, no sound from speaker, no reaction on force power off. I checked CPU and motherboard by friend's PC, and both found to be dead. I've checked everything twice: power connection, bios, PSU is 100% working well, RAM is ok too.

Now I want to know what's wrong with motherboard and can i fix it. Someone said that chipset has broken, can it ve true? I'm not sure that second GPU is broken or alive, and i don't want to try it on another PC.

PC specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
MB: MSI MAG B550M Mortar Max WiFi
RAM: G.Skill TridentZ 8×2 OC 4000 MHz CL 16
PSU: Chieftech Polaris 650W
GPU 1: Gigabyte RTX 3070 Eagle
GPU 2: ASUS Dual GTX 660 (not sure in Asus model, but definitely GTX 660)

Remove the GTX660 and clear your BIOS and see if that works. Also do note that your 3070 can run 3 or 4 monitors at once by itself. Therefore there is no need for the extra GPU.

Thanks for reply. I have cleared bios two ways: by cmos battery and 2 pins. That doesn't help.

I don't want to run both monitors on 3070 because it increases load and impacts on performance.

If you are just gaming on one of the two monitors and say have email open on the other your performance loss is practically nothing. I also think that the issue could be related to your computer using UEFI and the 660 might not support that, it came out in 2012. When you cleared the BIOS, had you removed the 660?

Yes, i removed GTX 660 before clearing bios. Also that doesn't explain why CPU is not working on other PC and why speaker not beeping. And i forgot to mention that on motherboard DRAM or CPU led is on (sometimes CPU, sometimes DRAM, idk what it depends on)
