Just upgraded my PC to a 970+i7 4790k with new MOBO. Now coil whine has started to come which in itself is not a huge issues since it is not very loud, however I can hear the coil whine through my headset which is really really annoying. I have tried to limit my framerate to 60 but the annoying buzzing/coil whine? from my PSU (which is by far the worst) is still there. The coil whine from my 970 is really minor but the fact that I can hear it through my headset is the issue.

To sum it up, I can hear coil whine in my headset, how do I fix it?

Thank you very much for reading, any help is greatly appreciated.

Solution
Which audio panel are you using? If you have a second one at the back or front of your PC try using that one. If you only have one option then try move the audio wire away from the GPU/PSU that's connected to the motherboard, hopefully it doesn't pick up on it anymore. Same thing goes if you are using it through USB.

Let me know if you need further help, if not just select a solution. Good luck :)

Thanks for helping me out!

I have tried the back panel aswell as the panel in my Razer Black Widow but it is still there, in fact when I use the back panel it is even worse, I can also hear it on mouse movements and such.

I will try to move the audio wire!

Thanks for helping me out, I will come back later to tell if it worked :)

Glad the issue was solved. :)

Yep, I did it and the noise got a lot quieter! I am going to replace my PSU since it is the component causing the issue and it seems to make a noise that interferes with my audio. I am going to be getting a EVGA PowerSupply SuperNOVA 750 G2 750W.

Thank you very much for helping me out! :)

Anytime, I need to get a new power supply myself as well 😛
