I am now having this G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2666 Desktop Memory Model F4-2666C15D-16GVR and I am planning on adding more RAM to my computer. I wonder if this G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) Ripjaws V Series DDR4 PC4-21300 2666Mhz Model F4-2666C15D-8GVR will fit ?
* or anyone can find me a cheaper RAM that also fits with my 16gb, please suggest me. That would be awesome*

If it fits, in what pattern should I put my RAM sticks, A A B B or A B A B or some other patterns ?

CPU Specs:
- Mobo: MSI Z270 Titanium Gaming XPower
- GPU: MSI GTX 970 Gaming
- CPU: Intel i5 7600k
- PSU: 650W

Thanks yall

I would recommend against mix-matching sizes even if it is the same model because 90% of the time they won't play nice, but yeah you could do it and if you wanted to run it in dual channel its generally like this (A, B, A, B) so those 2 sticks you have now would go into both "A" slots
-edit: Also I'd buy the exact same kit again if you were going upgrade your ram or at least one stick of it at the same exact size and model.

Question: "Can I add more RAM to my computer?"

Answer: Sure you can, but does it make sense? No, it doesn't, unless you're doing some heavy-duty CAD or video editing. And if you did those things, adding 8GB to your existing 16 wouldn't do much either, since those tasks are better suited to 32GB RAM systems, purchased as a kit.
In your case, adding a 2x4GB kit to your existing 2x8GB kit is just wasting money for nothing (and no "chicks for free" here either, if you're old enough to get that one, hehe).

You are mainly gaming, obviously ... and for that 16GB is more than enough. Those extra 8GB will achieve nothing apart from looking pretty in your Window-Kit case.

Yeah I agree, I have 24GB in mine and I don't think I've ever used more than 50% of it at a time in gaming. But if you want to upgrade there is no harm in doing it.

-edit because i type like a derp this time of the morning.

No, of course there is no harm in adding RAM, as long as it doesn't interfere with the originally installed 16GB.

And, well ... it does look kinda cooler with all 4 RAM slots populated, if one has a Window-Kit case, hehe.

But if it's only for the looks, you can always use blanks.
I recall there is a website which offers "blank RAM", they are just a plastic plate which will fit into the RAM slot, covered with a fake RAM sink ... the optical effect is the same, but they cost like 8 or 10 bucks each only. 😀

Yeah, I had 4 sticks in mine because the ram i bought was basically buy one get one free so I picked up 4 sticks for the price of 2. But now it runs 3 because I'm too poor to buy a seperate kit for my wifes pc at the current time, plus who know what i'll end up doing with it. that EDRAM absolutely destroys things. Anyway back on topic. If you want it, get it. But cances are you won't need more than 16GB of ram and by the time games need more ram, quad core cpu's will be on their way out like dual cores are now.

Thank you for your answer. It totally makes sense to me. However, I am an CS major and I know planning on do a lot of stuff on my computer.
My laptop currently has 6gb ram DDR3, I already got laggy when opening Chrome, run VMWare for Linux, and android Emulator Bluestacks. So I thought I will need more.
Moreover, in the near future, I am probably running dual OS ( Linux and Window), On Linux, I am going to do some VR projects which I doubt it will take a small amount of RAM. Plus with the taks I am doing now, 16GB should be good enough. But for a future, I may not know. If you are a CS person, who could tell me ahead xD

Basically if you do buy more ram, get the same kit 2 x8. It will generally be less headaches with 4 x 8 (32GB) instead of 2 x 8 and 2 x 4 even though your motherboard will only run it in dual channel. But quad channel doesn't really make a huge difference anyway.
