Drives A and B are no longer needed for floppy drives. I was wondering if I can use those drive letters as my Blu-Ray drive or a USB Thumb Drive. Will I get unpredictable results or run into any problems with Windows or applications?

Thank you

Solution
It is a bad idea to use either drive letters A or B because there is still plenty of older software that expects these drives to be "floppy drives" if the drives exist.

You absolutely have the potential to get "unpredictable results." Much of that depends on what software (including installers) you're using and when they date from.

It's not like there are not scads of other letters to choose from.
