Hello,

I have decided I wanted to replace my failing desktop with a desktop that I will soon build. I think I have found all the important components and found a motherboard that fits all the stuff. However, I planned on using my old Dimension 2350 case. I believe it is a Micro Tower or something. My question is, are there any dangers/consequences using a Dell case? Let me know anything related as well. Thank you all for any help! Much appreciated!

Solution
No fundamental compatibility problem with using that case.
Case cooling, depending on the parts you plan to use, could be an issue.

Asus H61 / I3-2100

Need to replace front panel components

You can Google the pinout for the Dell / Creative front panel sound / USB connector and mod the wiring, or do without it ( this was a D4700 according to the front bezel, had separate USB connector and Dell / Creative sound )
Add exhaust fan ( 90mm )
HD in the floppy bay to add a 90mm intake fan

Parts? Well, I plan on using the PC to work (Microsoft Word etc. use all that fun stuff) and game 😀

I guess I'll list off what I am considering, but I hope that does not derail the thread from its original purpose.. I'm not sure how strict Mods are. Anyway..

CPU= Intel Core i3 2120 or Intel Core i5 2500
~The reason why I selected these two is because I utilized the benchmark website I found here on Tom's Hardware and looked at the best for your dollar and I selected these two based popularity and word of mouth.
~~~Website: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/
GPU= AMD Radeon HD 6870 or AMD Radeon HD 6850
~Used benchmark website; however, this 'GPU' area I am very unfamiliar with as this would be the first time buying. So I'm not sure what's 'end of life' and what's 'hot'.
PSU? (Power Box?)= I'll be honest, I have not gotten there yet.
Motherboard= ASUS P8H61-M LE CSM REV3 Intel 6 Series Motherboard or
Intel DH67BLB3
~Motherboards seem confusing to me because they all look the same. However, the one I will end up with varies on which CPU I get.
I hope these answer your questions. Let me know what you think. Thank you!
I found this old case 1yr and some months ago from a friend, shoulda checked here then....sigh. any how nice way to save a few bucks on a case.
When my kids get old enough, hope they learn to save like this...
I am using a similar Dell case, and was hoping you could point me in the right direction. Where did you get the USB header? Also were you able to connect the audio jack that's in the front? Any help (pictures especially) would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for posting this!
