Is there a way where I can have my system volume drive letter as A: instead of C: and use some sort of utility to configure all of windows to boot from A: etc..?

Solution
The likely prospect is,

If the drives are showing as C: and D: in windows.
That if you use disk management of windows it may render the drives not being able to boot.
Unless you know how to change the windows registry, or the windows boot loader, boot sector of the drive.

It`s not something I have ever tried. but I still would not recommend it.

At least backup the windows registry before you attempt any changes to the system.

In any case read this bellow from the link.

Generally the drive letter chains of windows for A: And B: are by default listed as being used for floppy based devices.

By windows as default when first setup or installed.

The drive letter chain for hard drives, ssd drives, optical drives, usb flash drives always start from C: to :Z.

Leave it well alone.
Or you will end up with a major headache trying to get windows to boot if you assign a drive letter of A: or B:

Why is there a need to try and assign a hard drive to A: anyway ?

I have my 2tb HDD and 1tb HDD assigned as A and B atm and they are functioning perfectly fine. I just want my drives in the same order as I have them installed in my tower So theyre easier to identify and organize. Not a big issue just a matter of preference. I just want to know if I can reassign it to A and edit the registry or whatever so It will run correctly when assigned to a:

Solution
Then go ahead and try it. You have been warned. :)

It's under HKLM\System\MountedDevices
Find entry \DosDevices\C:
rename it to \DosDevices\A:
reboot and see what happens.

But I suspect - windows will go crazy if you do that. Things like windows update not working anymore and possibly more.

I have a multi volume hard drive and I use B: for one of my drives, as long as you don't change the boot volume, you shouldn't have a problem:

Go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management, and then go to storage in the left sidebar, expand it, and do disk management. from there, select a volume, and right click, choose change letter assignment.
