Can i combine a DDR3 graphics card with a DDR5 graphics card

Hello,
i currently have a DDR3 graphics card but im getting a DDR5 graphics card soon. i still want to use my old DDR3 card as a physics card. will mt DDR5 card slow down to the DDR3 card if the DDR5 card is my main card?

No. In SLI that would be the case but as a Physx card it doesn't matter.

great so my GTX275 wont hamper the performance of my soon to be GTX460 1 gig then.
that would be a bonus if it didnt.

No it won't but the performance difference between those two cards isn't very large... If you are going to bother to upgrade I would be looking at a GTX 470 myself.

lol thanks i did have a peek at the GTX 470 and even the GTX 480. But here in South Africa the price jump from the GTX 460 to the 470 is double if not a little more.
if i had to take one which would u say are better out of these brands. EVGA, ASUS or club 3d?

Well, that sucks. In the US there is often only a $50 difference between an 460 and 470. Have you considered using Ebay perhaps?
EVGA and ASUS are both top brands. For the GTX 460 specifically the best models are the ASUS DirectCU or the Hawk or Cyclone by MSI.

thanks for that. Ebay lol i have bought some stuff from ebay but most of the time us and canada only. shipping also makes it rather pricey. Exchange rate from US and south africa is 7.4 to 1. $100 = R740. importing works out cheaper but then depends what mood they are in will add import tax to the value of the product that they think has. Fishy yes i know but this is lovely africa. lol i think i will go for the EVGA GTX 470. did some research and looks like a damn fine card. bonus it comes with more support than most of the other cards. thanks for your help dude. and greetings from a SUNNY Cape Town lol

the standard GTX 480 retails for $499. that with the exchange rate is in South African rand R3560. BUT here the cheapest one is R5000 = $700 and the av one is R5700 = $800. Now all of these prices are for the stock standard GTX 480. not superclocked or over clocked or anything.. PRICEY o yes. import it is. wish i could. EVGA will only ship to US and Canada. A possible market opportunity awaits.
