The motherboard is a Asus Prime B450M-A/CSM AM4 Micro ATX, 3 fans + the case fan so wouldn't the board need 4 fan headers?
I'm new to the PC Race so i'm not sure.

Solution
Looking at the specs your mobo has 1 CPU_FAN header (which should be used for your CPU cooler fan) and two CHA_FAN headers.

You can either buy a fan controller/hublike this (I would recommend one that has external power and doesnt rely solely on the mobo header to supply power to more then 2 fans) https://www.amazon.com/SilverStone-Technology-Silverstone-Splitter-SST-CPF04-USA/dp/B07N3HP8S5

Or buy a couple headers splitter (2 fans per header is ok) such as https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NA-SYC1-Y-Cables-Fans-Black/dp/B00KG8K5CY

so do these connect to the motherboard and then plug the fans in? and if its external its outside of the case?

For teh hub what I mean by external power is that it will require either a SATA or MOLEX(rare these days) from your powersupply, Then you plug 3/4 pin "master" cable to one of your header on the mobo and then the case fans all plug into the hub.

Looking at the fan hub I linked it appears that 3pin fans will run at maximum speed. So if the Uphere fans are 3 pin then they will run max rpm which can be quite noisy.

The splitter may be a better option, just keep in mind the speed of each fan per header will be the same.
