Can i connect a DVI-I cable to a vga monitor input?

i have a XFX HD 5570 ZNFN2 V 2.3 GRAPHICS CARD, It has a dvd-i port and hdmi port. No vga port.

my system details :-

INTEL Q 8400
Trandcend jet 2GB*2 800 MHz
INTEL DG41RQi MEDIA SERIES
500 GB & 640 GB HDD
SONY DVD RW.

NOW THE PROBLEM IS I HAVE A CONNECTOR DVI-D TO VGA.

WHEN I CONNECT WITH IT MY PC RUNNING BUT NO DISPLAY...

I HAVE A SAMSUNG SMART LED 16.5"

WHAT DO I DO?

What exact model is your display?

You should be able to use a DVI-A to VGA adapter or cable.

It's pretty rare to find a DVI-D to VGA adapter. Are you sure it's not already DVI-A to VGA?

Which one of these does the DVI-plug on your adapter look like?
