can I connect an AP to a switch (connecting wireless network to a wired network)?

I have some PCs networked through an access point and some laptops networked by switch and want to make both of them one network . so can I connect AP to a switch.Thanks

Yes it should work a AP in general terms could be described as a wireless switch. This is ignoring the issue that you somehow have ip address on those devices and you must make sure any routers on those networks do not conflict.
