Can i connect CRT TV (21") to APC Back-UPS (1kVA)?

I have an old CRT TV (21") which i want to connect to UPS.

My residential area have a power backup. But when power goes out, the generator kicks in after 2 minutes.
So, i just want 2 minutes backup for the tv.

But my doubt is whether CRT TVs are compatible with backup UPS or not?

TV: BPL 21" CRT (Almost 15 years old but works good)
UPS: APC Back-UPS RS1000 (1000VA)

A crt tv will work as long as the total draw on the battery back-up system is less than the max.
I had an old system with 19" crt and a 650 watt back up and it ran for about 5 minutes with it idle!
Look at the back panel for the wattage consumption and add that to the other devices hooked up to the back-up and it must be under 600 watts! 1000va =600 watts and at 600 watts you get about 6 minutes!

I will only connect the TV and the dth cable box to the UPS.
The back of the TV says 100W and dth box 20W. So its less than 600

But a friend told me that the UPS should be a sine wave UPS in order to connect the CRT TV to it.
Is that true?

APC site shows that the UPS is a "Step Approximation to Sine Wave (Not a true Sine Wave)".

The step approximation should be fine. The problem will be that the cable system itself may not work when the power goes out in the entire neighborhood rather than just your building.
