Question Can I connect my gpu to my avr using a displayport to hdmi cable?

My gpu and Tv support hdmi 2.1, but my avr does not and my gpu only has 1 hdmi port and 2 displayports.

Can I connect my gpu to my TV via HDMI, then connect my gpu to my avr using a displayport to hdmi cable to get sound from the avr?
