Can I cut extra connectors off of a case fan?

I recently purchased case fans that have both a 2 pin Molex connector and a 3 pin connector at the end of the cord. Can I safely snip off the Molex connector if I use the 3 pin connector to neaten the appearance and aid in cable management?

That may not be a good idea, as you could break the circuit and cause the fans to not work.
