Can I display a 4k monitor AND my laptops 1080 monitor at the same time natively

Hi,
I want to get a 4k monitor to use with my zbook mobile workstation (I essentially use it as a desktop). I know it can output to something like 6 4k monitors or something crazy, but if I connect via displayport 1.2 or HDMI (doesn't matter to me) to a 4k display, will the 4k display AND my 1080 laptop screen properly? Nvidia Quadro M3000M if that matters.

I just want to be able to come to my dorm and have a large screen for video editing in addition to reading, viewing, whatever on my laptop screen.
