Here's a link to the build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/YLVmzy this is going to be my driver for about 6 months then I'm either upgrading to x99 or skylake (Z170) but I am wanting to do 1440p 60fps with close to or max settings in most games here's the breakdown for the parts

Thanks for taking a look I'm open to suggestions

Most benchmarks show the 980 TI near or below 60fps on ultra settings at 1440p. Min frame rates, which is what really matters, were on average, quite a bit below that. 1% minimums were fairly close at about 45-60fps but clearly it didn't average 60fps.

With a few tweaks and a couple of things turned down, you can probably manage it at mostly Ultra settings or a combination of high/ultra though.

The case comes with 3 fans preinstalled anyhow. This would be a little better. I actually wouldn't even recommend those Corsair fans. For the price, unless you're super concerned with the color scheme, the Cougar fans at about the same price are probably a better option. Honestly though, I'd recommend going with a full set of Phanteks, Noctua or Aerocool dead silence fans. Corsair's fans rarely, if ever, live up to their specs on paper and are louder than these others especially after they've had a little run time and the bearings wear in a bit.

Phanteks has some nice, quiet, red LED fans that are much better than those Corsair fans if color is an indication of priority.

A 2000 dollar build with a 90 dollar POS motherboard, is off balance. 9 fans for a case that only holds 6 fans, is a problem too.

Using only a 120GB SSD on said 2000 dollar system, is also off balance, since that will be likely to be down to almost nothing by the time you install the OS, all your applications, game files, over provision the SSD to set part of it aside for cell failure and factor in the huge amount of windows updates and other supporting software that is likely to need to find it's way onto the SSD as well. 120GB will be gone before you know it.

And although I didn't change it yet, a 1000w PSU, is way overkill for a GPU card that only needs 650w, unless you plan to add a second card later, in which case, you still only need a very good 850w unit but I wouldn't ding you for going with the 1000w in that case just due to the fact that if you also overclock the CPU, GPU cards or both, it might be a good idea.

For a single 980 TI with overclocking of both the CPU and GPU card, a good 750w unit would be plenty.

IF I WAS going to go with a 1000w unit, it wouldn't be that, or any other, Corsair model. I can tell you that for nothing.

The reason for the 120gb ssd is that I am only putting the os on it but in my future build I'm getting a 2tb 850 pro

For the power supply I got it for around $80 from my friend he said it was not enough power for him he runs quad 980ti but I am going to probably reuse it since I'm getting a second 980 ti and I haven't had a problem yet

On to the motherboard I don't know why I picked that one I am most likely getting a MSI Z97 Gaming 5 instead thanks for catching that

And lastly I am going to replace the stock fans with the corsair ones with red led lights to fit the overall build style

You cannot be serious. That article is 9 months old!

You're spending 2200.00 dollars on this, but there's a "future" build? Are you made of money? Heh. Ok, whatever.

In any case, "just the OS", takes up about 20GB plus once you get all the updates installed, it's probably more like 50GB considering Windows caches the installer files. That does leave about 70GB, but wait, you should over provision the drive as well, which means a loss of 20-30% of the overall size, which is about 36GB if you go with the recommended size. Lets say you only go with 20%, that's means 24GB gone. So now you have 46GB left.

It's recommended that you never run a drive that's more than 85% full, so that means you now only have ......Shall I go on? We haven't even begun installing any applications, drivers, utilities or game files yet. And yes, even if you install the bulk of the game files on a secondary drive, every game will install some supporting files on the root drive as well. Everything you install on your computer, unless its a portable version that consists of a simplified .exe only, will install some kind of files on your root drive or wherever the OS is installed. Trust me, it evaporates quickly. You CAN get away with the smaller drive, but it seems silly on a build this expensive.

I would go with the Gigabyte Gaming 5 over the MSI gaming 5. It's less expensive, AND it's a higher tiered board.

Since you already have the PSU, I won't pick on that, and there ARE much worse models you could have, so the 80 bucks you spent on it might have been ok although I'd have rather gone with a newer, higher quality unit for about twenty bucks more than getting a used one for 80. Done is done though and you could have done worse.

Well I originally bought the 1tb and it got filled up quickly so I bought the 3tb and I just run them as a dynamic disc kind of like raid but I may get rid of the 1tb and get another 3tb and run them in raid where the second one backs up the data but I got that ssd from my friend also he didn't need it anymore and I have no trouble with some slower speeds with launching games and loading them I just have my os and basic apps on there but I am going to get a 2tb 850 pro or evo ssd I'm a few months

As for when the chip will launch, Skylake was originally supposed to drop in 2015, but that was before the Broadwell delay. Private sources have indicated that the 14nm Broadwell pushback will have trickle-down effects across Intel’s product lines, meaning that launches that were originally supposed to happen in early 2015 will be delayed to later in the year, while late 2015 launches will likely slip into 2016.

THAT, is from two weeks ago.

No, Skylake is coming out in early August, at least the unlocked LGA versions for PCs. If it wasn't the news would be all over. Your blurb concerns other flavors of the Skylake and the 2011 socket parts.

Ok, so is this a build you already have, or one you're planning. Usually when you list a build the way you have, it's GOING to be built, not already built. Anyhow, I gotta crash.
