Can I extend my monitor setup using a DVI-I to DVI-D and VGA cable?

I want to make sure it will work to have two separate displays. the splitter has the same connectors as this: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-X2026-DVI-I-Splitter-Female/dp/B002UG8S42/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1466133127&sr=8-3&keywords=dvi+vga+splitter I already have two displays hooked up to an AMD Radeon HD 7570, which supports 4 monitors and my cpu supports 3, so the computer can handle it, but im not sure if the outputs will work to extend the displays instead of mirroring them.

Hello... that splitter will only give you "Clone" mode... NOT "extended" mode.

are you sure? now that i have read more about it it is the analog and the digital signal being split, not one signal so it seems like it wold work. i also read some people had done this and it worked to extend the monitors.

Hello.... You need a separate output port, cable, and monitor for 'extended" mode.

The computer ended up realizing there were 3 monitors, but wouldnt extend to the third one.
